Strategy development
Working alongside the senior teams of a wide range of blue-chip clients, our contribution to Strategy Development has two main aspects:
Setting direction / facilitation
We are highly skilled at facilitating Boards of Directors and Business Unit Management teams. We challenge them to generate sound strategic options by taking a fearless and clear-headed view of market opportunities and threats combined with a realistic assessment of internal strengths and weaknesses versus the competition. We will often factor in internal research, customer insight survey results or targeted market intelligence gathered by Morgan Clarke or others to provide the evidence for change, a new direction or maintaining the status quo. We enable clients to arrive at a clear and agreed view and make decisions that are placed firmly in a business context.
Strategic process and decision making
Critical to strategic decision making is the understanding that individuals will only sustain long-term effort to achieve goals and objectives to which they are personally committed. Our strategic process focuses on the need to develop awareness within individuals, and senior teams as a whole, that they need to take account of individual preferences, aspirations and motivation. We factor in those considerations along with an agreed view of internal strengths and weaknesses as well as market opportunities and threats in order to ensure that strategic decisions are fully supported across the senior team and will therefore be implemented successfully.
“One of the few times we haven’t put the document in the drawer but are living it”.
Claire Jeffery, Business Unit Manager, Unilever
